PURPOSE: You are invited to participate in a study of cage painting to improve intercultural communication through simulation. We hope to learn more about the metacognitive development of strategies for intercultural communication..
PARTICIPANT SELECTION: You were selected as a possible participant in this study because this topic will also be of interest to you as part of your Masters program.
EXPLANATION OF PROCEDURES: If you decide to participate, you will use the Cage Painting simulator, complete a reflective journal and a survey instrument over a 45 minute to 1 hour period.
DISCOMFORT/RISKS: We donít anticipate that you will experience any discomfort or be put at risk.
BENEFITS: By accelerating the process of learning intercultural communication strategies, people in all aspects of life will benefit, when they deal with a local diversity of cultures or with global interactions..
CONFIDENTIALITY: Any information obtained in this study in which you can be identified will remain confidential and will be disclosed only with your permission. No individual information identifying you as the participant will be released. Derived summary statistics will be computed and used in scholarly publications.
COMPENSATION OR TREATMENT: We do not anticipate that you will be injured as a result of this activity. It is important for you to know that Wichita State University does not provide medical treatment or other forms of reimbursement to persons injured as a result of or in connection with participation in research activities conducted by Wichita State University or its faculty, staff, or students.
